About the story

The main theme of the story is a protest against the construction of a new road.
Josie and Chris, twins who live near the protesters' camp, become involved in the action after they discover that the road will pass over a magical doorway through which they are able to travel backwards through time to an England quite different from the one in which they live.
While the protesters are protesting and the twins are travelling to and fro through time, you will be wondering what connection they can possibly have with the convict who was sent to Australia in the previous century.
